Winter Woolies - St Vincent de Paul Appeal

On Thursday 26th June 2014, St Mary's Primary School hosted a “Winter Woollies” day to raise awareness for the plight of the homeless.

The children wore their favourite winter clothes - with pyjamas, slippers and dressing gowns, tracksuits, beanies, gloves and parkas on display.

A short Liturgy highlighting the importance of reaching out to others in our community especially those less fortunate than ourselves was a highlight of the day.

The school community donated beanies, socks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, men’s razors, and men’s deodorant that St Vincent de Paul Society will hand out from both the Vinnies Van and the men’s shelter.

This was a great opportunity for the children to spread the Good News and to show that the church
is really alive.
